Sweat Connections

"Sweat connections" or "Sweat Adapter" is the bond between two pieces of copper by using solder.

When referring to a shower valve and the use of sweat connections, this usually prompts the question of "is the building equipped with iron pipe or copper pipe?". It is best to make sure of the type of existing connections before purchasing a new valve.

HINT Sweat style connections can still connect to iron pipe sizes with threads. This would require the use of threaded/sweat adapters for conversion. This being said, Sweat connections can be used almost anywhere.
